2024 NAIOP-MD Awards Of Excellence Project Categories

NAIOP Maryland is accepting submissions on the below project categories as well as on transactions.

OFFICE

Best Interior
Productivity increases with a better work environment, so we will be looking at the best interior office spaces in this category. New construction and renovation build-outs will be considered. Extra consideration for LEED certification.
Best Office Park
Office parks consisting of three or more buildings that offer a little extra touch of charm, amenity, or convenience.
Best Low to Mid-Rise Office
These are buildings that are six stories or less that stand out and change the surrounding landscape for the better.
Best High-Rise Office
These are buildings that stand out and change the surrounding landscape for the better. The building must be seven stories and above.
Best Build-to-Suit Office Building
Office buildings designed for the owner/user that incorporate the needs and wants of the company into its work environment.

INDUSTRIAL

Best Warehouse
A new warehouse that checks all the boxes as it relates to marketplace demand and the latest logistics trends.
Best Build-to-Suit Warehouse
A warehouse built to a tenant’s specifications and designed for the owner/user that incorporates the needs and wants of the company into its work environment.
Best Industrial Park
An industrial park that consists of three or more buildings that stand out against established industrial parks.

RETAIL / MIXED-USE

Best Mixed Use
A project with a combination of different uses that make you want to never leave. The project must have retail, entertainment, flex, and office components.
Best Transit Oriented Development
A mixed-use development that has great access to public transportation and has many different uses within the development, creating a live-work-play environment. Must be located within one-third of a mile from a public transit station.

MISCELLANEOUS

Best Adaptive Reuse – Warehouse/Office Redevelopment
Any building that was destined for the wrecking ball but was given a second chance and transformed into something that they were not originally designed for. The renovated building’s current use must differ from its original use.
Best Community Impact
Many different things will be considered for this category, including but not limited to, buildings, parks, playgrounds, monuments, retail, etc., but the ‘impact’ must be recognized by the surrounding community. The project has had to make a positive change in the community. 

TRANSACTION

Size, creativity, “never gonna happen”, overcoming NIMBY, new jobs added to a much-needed area, capital investment in a blighted community, and many other reasons can all lead to winning in this category. Each lease or sales transaction must have been completed by Dec. 31, 2023.
